Lead Veterinary Technician
My Story
At our specialty surgery center, I am the Lead Veterinary Technician. I support advanced surgical procedures, oversee patient care workflows, and help guide and mentor our technical team.
Originally, I came to this area through a combination of family, opportunity, and my career in veterinary medicine. Over time, it became home — a place where I could grow professionally, raise my family, and build the rescue work that means so much to me.
I became a veterinary technician because I’ve always had a deep connection with animals and a passion for helping those who cannot speak for themselves. Working in veterinary medicine allows me to combine compassion, problem‑solving, and hands‑on care in a way that feels meaningful every day. Supporting patients and their families continues to inspire me in this field.
As a veterinary technician, I assist with anesthesia, surgical preparation, patient monitoring, postoperative care, and client communication. My background in general practice, emergency medicine, and specialty surgery has given me a broad foundation and a calm, confident approach to high‑acuity cases. I am especially passionate about anesthesia and surgical nursing — I love the precision, teamwork, and trust involved in caring for patients during complex procedures. I also enjoy mentoring newer technicians and contributing to a positive, supportive team environment.
I am married and have five wonderful kids who keep life busy and full of personality. My family shares my love for animals and supports the rescue work that is such a big part of my life. Together, we run a 501(c)(3) dog rescue, and our home is shared with 13 personal dogs, along with pigs, goats, horses, and cats. Our family life is a blend of compassion, chaos, and a lot of heart.
My home is filled with a lively mix of rescued pets, each with their own story and personality. Dixie, a 7‑year‑old chocolate Labrador we rescued 6.5 years ago, is endlessly sweet and always ready for a cuddle. Addie, another 7‑year‑old rescue black Lab, is equally gentle and loving. Wylie, our 7‑year‑old husky mix, brings a fun, energetic spirit to the house, while Snoop, a 4‑year‑old rescued Doberman, has a loyal and goofy charm.
Harley and Bugsy, both 7‑year‑old Shih Tzus, are small in size but big in personality, and Chong, our 7‑year‑old Yorkie, keeps everyone entertained with his spunky attitude. Rosie, our 10‑year‑old Sheltie, is the wise and steady presence among the group. Thelma, a 7‑year‑old French Bulldog, is full of character, and Shakes, a 3‑year‑old Chihuahua, adds a dash of sass. Birdie, our 3‑year‑old English Bulldog, is a lovable goofball, and Black, a 3‑year‑old Pomeranian, rounds out the pack with fluffy confidence.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about animal rescue, community outreach, and providing second chances to dogs in need through the 501(c)(3) rescue I help run. I also enjoy spending time with my family, caring for our animals, and staying involved in hands‑on work that makes a meaningful impact. My life revolves around compassion, advocacy, and creating positive change for the animals and people who depend on me.
